I’ve been thinking lately (I know that’s hard for some to believe), but my attention has been drawn to the connections between several prophecies in scripture that, in my estimation, are the same event but described by the prophets differently to give a picture of the broad impact the rapture will have. In my estimation it’s all the same rapture event.
The scripture in 1 Thessalonians 5:3 declares, “For when they say, ‘Peace and safety!’ then sudden destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a pregnant woman. And they shall not escape.” This prophecy is intricately connected with multiple prophetic fulfillments, involving international alliances, the Abraham Accords, the rapture of the Church, and the massive falling away described in 2 Thessalonians 2.
Peace and Security: United Nations and the Abrahamic Accords
The phrase “peace and security” resonates strongly with current global peace initiatives championed by the United Nations through its Sustainable Development Goals. Moreover, the Abraham Accords—initially agreements between Israel and several Arab nations—expand this global peace agenda significantly. These accords align with Daniel 9:27’s prophecy of a “covenant with many,” likely to be strengthened into a definitive seven-year peace treaty involving Israel and a two-state solution with Palestine.
Rapture and Covenant Signing in Close Proximity
Scripture indicates the rapture—the sudden catching away of believers to meet Christ (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17)—will occur very near the strengthening of the Abrahamic covenant. Daniel’s prophetic timeline (Daniel 9:27) positions the signing of a seven-year covenant as the starting point of the final tribulation period. Thus, the rapture acts as an essential prophetic marker, closely linked with this covenant’s signing, signaling the imminent beginning of the seven-year tribulation.
Rapture is a judgment.
The rapture represents not only deliverance for believers but also judgment for the world. The removal of the Church, indwelt by the Holy Spirit, lifts the restraining force against evil (2 Thessalonians 2:6-7), thereby initiating judgment upon a world that has persistently rejected God. The resulting chaos and spiritual darkness mark the definitive start of divine wrath. Rapture Initiates Tribulation
The rapture is the initial judgment inaugurating the seven-year tribulation. By removing the Church and the restraining presence of the Holy Spirit, unrestrained evil floods the world (2 Thessalonians 2:8-12). This event commences the sequence of judgments vividly depicted in Revelation 6 through 18, spanning precisely seven years.
The Falling Away Includes the Rapture (2 Thessalonians 2)
The “falling away” mentioned in 2 Thessalonians 2:3 is traditionally interpreted solely as spiritual apostasy. However, closer scriptural analysis suggests it encompasses the rapture itself. The Greek term “apostasia” indicates a departure, and contextually, this departure can be physical, spiritual, or both. For total apostasy to fully occur globally, the restraining power—identified as the Holy Spirit within the Church (2 Thessalonians 2:6-7)—must first be removed. Thus, the rapture becomes necessary for a complete global descent into lawlessness, signifying both the physical departure of believers and ensuing spiritual apostasy.
The sequence becomes clear:
Typologies Supporting Rapture Preceding Seven-Year Wrath:
“Peace and Safety”—Trigger for Rapture and Judgment:
The prophecy of “peace and safety” denotes a false global security immediately preceding judgment. Believers are promised protection, explicitly “not appointed to wrath” (1 Thessalonians 5:9). Therefore, the proclamation of global peace—through the strengthened Abraham Accords and two-state solution—triggers the prophetic sequence:
Revelation 3:10 underscores believers’ promised deliverance: “Because you have kept My command to persevere, I also will keep you from the hour of trial which shall come upon the whole world.”
Conclusion:
The declaration of “peace and safety” prophetically unites various biblical threads—global peace efforts, the Abraham Accords, the rapture, and the falling away of 2 Thessalonians. As these prophetic elements rapidly converge, believers recognize their imminent redemption, firmly anchored in the promise of Christ’s return (Luke 21:28).
